Beautifully Waiting began with an act of service.
My earliest understanding of meaningful hospitality was shaped by my mother and the purpose she carried through her work. Each February, through her nonprofit organization, she hosted an annual couples gala honoring love, life, and connection. While she facilitated the conversations and created space for reflection, I curated the experience surrounding them.
Those gatherings taught me that service is not only about what is offered, but also about how people are received, how an environment is shaped, and how thoughtfully each detail supports the purpose of the moment.
My mother’s work as a missionary became a pivotal influence on my own career and on the way I continue to find meaning in service-centered work. After several successful events, one of the guests encouraged me to turn this natural ability into a business. I took her advice, spent the following year researching and preparing, and in 2019, Beautifully Waiting came to life.
What began in service has grown into a practice devoted to creating spaces where people feel welcomed, valued, and deeply considered.
Shera Curtis is an event strategist, producer, hospitality professional, and organizational leader whose work is grounded in service, creativity, and human connection.
Her professional experience spans event management, conference production, nonprofit leadership, community engagement, arts and health, program development, hospitality operations, staffing, and business development. Across each of these areas, Shera has built a reputation for bringing structure to complex ideas, cultivating meaningful relationships, and creating environments where people feel welcomed, valued, and thoughtfully considered.
As the founder of Beautifully Waiting, Shera leads the planning and execution of conferences, institutional gatherings, community-centered events, private celebrations, and hospitality operations. Her work often requires coordination across leadership teams, speakers, artists, vendors, venues, contractors, event staff, and community partners.
Shera’s background as a movement practitioner and teaching artist also shapes the way she approaches event production. She understands rhythm, timing, transition, space, and flow not only as artistic principles, but as practical tools that influence how people move through and experience a gathering.
Her leadership is rooted in stewardship and relational intelligence. She believes that every budget, relationship, timeline, and responsibility should be managed with care, and that the strongest events are built through clear communication, trust, preparation, and purposeful execution.
Through Beautifully Waiting, Shera continues to develop a practice that brings together strategy, hospitality, creativity, and operational excellence.
